2002 E350 7.3 No Cal nooobie
Howdy –
Just got a 2002 E350 7.3 PS extended cargo van. I have two trailers, a 2 horse slant load for my mule and a 2 axle utility trailer. My old towing vehicle was a ’82 diesel Suburban that won’t die, but it is the rattiest thing on my property. I pulled the invertor and a warn 9,000 lb winch and bumper off of the Suburban and plan to install the winch on the van. The invertor is already installed and I am still trying to figure a way to get the bumper and winch on the van. Looking at the gauges, intake and exhaust upgrade and an interior kit (Duraliner proection package type) for this van, but I guess I got to win the lottery first. Shucks I don’t gamble and I don’t use credit cards so I don’t get anything unless I have cash in hand. After a bit of reading here, I see the upgrades on the vans is no slam dunk. Not much made for these and so far it looks like intake and exhaust will be a problem and so will the chip given that the van apparently has no turbine speed sensor. I got Tony at Total Diesel checking things out for me once I get him the pcm code. I think I will be limited on the upgrade, but that is okay, just need a little better economy and performance for daily driving and towing – my burn-out days are behind me.
If anyone with a 2002 E350 7.3 with an auto trans has had some first hand success with a gauge/intake/exhaust/chip upgrade I would certainly be interested. Cheers and thanks for all the good reading and information here.
