hello everyone!! I know I'm a cummins man but I still have an interest in the psd's

Hello everyone!! I just wanted to introduce myself as one of the newbies to this site. Most of my time is spent over on the dtr site since I'm a dodge boy now. But I still have a little interest in the psd's as well. I had one of the horrible 04 6.0's and had to give it up from all of the problems I had with it. I am a hotshot courier and put a ton of miles on my trucks and seem to go thru them fast!
Again hello and thanks for the opportunity to join this fine site!!!

Glad to have ya here! It's always great to get opinions from the enemy....er I mean other side.
Just kidding!
How do you like being a hotshot currier and what do you generally haul? I see all these diesels going through Houston all the time pulling trailers toward Louisiana - I think for FEMA. I get every other Friday off and always thought it would be cool to hook up and haul something to make some toy buying cash once or twice a month.

I like doing the hotshot thing. It provides a ok living when busy but I always have the winters off since I haul water and sewer pipe and that sort of thing. Since the ground is frozen from about december till april there isn't much to do. I typically spend my winters working for other people, My brother-in-law runs a machine shop that I help out at and also haul a few loads of trailers from time to time.
Thanks and I will post some pics of the old 550 for you guys also. So you can see what keeps me curious about the powerstrokes. Mine was a nightmare with the typical problems and ending with a head gasket failure that came out of my pocket. Thats why I switched to another brand. Personally I have always been a chevy fan growing up in a chevy family but they just don't make "work trucks" very well.

Hey cumminsman i'll agree with you on a few points. Sorry to hear that you were one of many that had horrible luck with the 6.0. You should definitely do everything possible to get your money back for the head gasket failure. I honestly think that if you get the bbb on your side you have a legitimate shot. So many have had the same problems with their 6.0's and there's no reason that a design that was flawed from the get go should have taken money from your pocket. I love ford trucks, I love the 7.3, I like the 6.0 but it's gotta go. I talk to so many guys around town not just on here who have ford diesels, and I have only had one guy who had some bad luck with his 7.3, despite it's 350,000+ miles....but a huge majority of the 6.0 owners I talk with have had quite a few problems. One of my closer friends got tired of his being in the shop and sold it. However there are many happy 6.0 owners out there that have managed to dodge the bullet...so far. Time will tell if that luck holds up. I also agree with you on the chevy HD trucks. My uncle owns a small construction/remodeling business and has an 02 silverado HD and tows a 16' dual axle trailer with quite a few tools in it and a few ladders on the top. I know he is getting crappy mileage in it. Also I know that the current IFS setup they're running on the HD's is pretty strong and capable, however it's still nothing compared to a straight axle. I just don't see an IFS holding up as long as a solid axle, especially under a heavier diesel engine.
