97 powerstroke problem

I have a 97 F-350 Dually with the 7.3 Powerstroke, automatic OD trans.
Recently when I brought the truck to a slow gradual stop, the engine would act as if it was going to die. (I relate it to stopping a manual trans vehicle in gear and not releasing the clutch.)
I threw the trans in Neutral and reved the engine. All was seemed fine.
It isn't consistant when it does this and I was wondering if anyone else has had this occur.

bad cam sensor

it sounds like you have a bad cam sensor its located on the front of your engine right above your harmonic balencer. take it out and see if the nippels on the end of it are gone becareful when you take it out they brake easy.
ohh yeah and there about $180 to replace

Thanks for the reply. I will do a visial on it.
Is there any test procedures (volt/ohm) that you may know about to validate its operation?? If not I'll just R&R it and hope for the best.
