new guy from maine (06 f250)

Im new to diesels and fords, but not automotive stuff.

Truck is an 06 f250 diesel, crew cab short bed, leather and other than that stripped. High mileage (189k) but completely rust free from CA, Thats a big deal here in the Northeast.

Has a 6" lift, 35s, egr delete, 5" MRBP exhaust, and i just added an sct itsx tuner so i can monitor my numbers. Currently not tuned, and a CEL for the EGR delete. I'd like to tune to ditch the light, and don't want to add a lot of power on my stock head bolts.

Currently my eot/ect delta is circa 4F and i'd like to keep it that way so i plan on adding a filter in the near future.

so near future mods will be, a tune (currently leaning towards vivian), coolant filter (leaning towards sinister), clear cab lights (leaning towards recon, currently none on truck), and a new headunit that doesn't suck (leaning towards keenwood dnx99_ _ garmin nav/dvd/ipod/ect)

So yea, just saying hi, comments / suggestions on planned mods are welcome, thats why im here.

oh, and a pic.
has a 6" lift and new 35x12.5r18 nitto trail grapplers. It looks proportionatly correct to me, but mt 5'1" wife doesn't even come up to the window.

im not sure on the lift amount either. I bought it used with it. Guy at the dealer told me thats what it was. It has radius arm drop bracketts in the front, and the new hole to stock hole is 6" which would be conducive to that being the lift height. These trucks in general are so big and long that the lift makes it look proportionatly correct to me. Not to big not to small. My wife is 5'1" and top of her head is below the bottom of the window. Its not in "huge" territory, but it makes my sierra denali 1500 look like a toy.

Im down in gray maine, work in auburn, in portland a lot too.

thanks for the welcomes

been working on my mods list slowly. My phone had to get sent out for repair so i haven't had my tuner for a couple weeks (tuner is a bluetooth dongle that uses the phone for everything else) but im in negotiations for a tune. Pretty sure im going with a looney tune for studless trucks, and an 8k tow file.

I have a headunit and back up camera in the mail. Went with a kenwood dnx570hd.

I installed a block heater cord (came from cali so it didn;t have one) but that has been very usefull.

and so far loving the truck

I am having a hard time with the brake controller. I wired my controller up correctly, verified which wire is which in the ford plug with my multimeter (white is ground, red is power, green is signal from the brake, and blue is the only one left and should go to the 7pin trailer for the brakes.

my controller is saying no connection to brakes. I'm 90% sure its not the trailer since that worked FINE with the same controller on my other truck. Is the next step to check continuity between the blue wire on the truck side of the brake controller plug and the correct pin on the 7 plug?

I've crawled under it and the wiring in the rear looks sloppy. I have a 7 prong AND a 4 prong hanging below it. My trailer lights work off the 7 prong though, just no brakes.

its kinda harshing my buzz since i bought this truck for its towing prowess (compared to my 1500 gas job)
