Maintenence is more expensive. One quart shy of 4 gallons of oil and a 20 dollar oil filter every 5k miles or whatever change interval you choose. Fuel filters are pricey too. But thats about it. The fuel milage on the 6.0s is great! (if you can keep your foot out of it) My computer was reading 23-24 this morning on the highway - i was only driving about 60 cause traffic was congested. some guys clain those computers lie real bad but mine seems to be withing .5 mpg and it reads high so if it says 23, i'm getting 22.5 or so. |

I think the Shell Rotella T oil ran me about 8 bucks a gallon, and my filter was only around 10-12 bucks. I'm not sure if the 6.0 uses 15 quarts like the 7.3 being 1.3l smaller. My 5.9 Cummins uses exactly 3 gallons. Basically plan on about 45 bucks give or take per oil change. Changing the oil on the 6.0 from what i've heard is as simple as it gets. Basically follow the service intervals that are in the manual and you should have no problems.
