new to diesels, don't have one yet, got questions

Hi, I'm new to diesels but have always wanted one. So far I have stayed with '60's cars. The truck I'm trying to get is a 95-98 f250-350 4x4 crew but so far I am still trying to find the right one. Also, one of the trucks I am looking at is kindof high mileage (250,000) I know everyone says you get more miles out of diesels but how many? It was supposedly owned by a diesel mechanic.
Thanks in advance

Yes, to Powerstroke.org

As far as your question, i personally would buy a 250k mile truck. Diesel mechanic or not...was he the only owner??
I suppose if it was reaaly cheap you could take a gamble on it, the worst case would be you would have to find ya another motor to drop in it and those can be had on ebay all day long.
I have seen school busses sell on Ebay for 500 bucks and they were powered by internationals 7.3s... some with under 150k miles.

It will show everything that was done AT THE FORD house only.
If any service was done out of the local shade tree mechanics garage, you'll never know.
