New to me 04 F350 6.0

Just thought I would say hello. I just brought home a 69K F350 6.0L from a local dealer. This is the 1st 6.0 that I have owned. I just sold a DuraMax with only 43K on it, but I needed a crew cab.
This is a totally stock truck. Is there anything that I should check out or do to ensure the best outcome from this engine?

Joe

I am not sure what you plan to do with your truck so the advice i give you may not be all that you need to know. If it was me i would start by deleting the egr all together or going with a bullet proof egr install a coolant filter and make sure you keep up on the oil changes and fuel filter changes. get something like the edge insight to monitor the motor while you drive. keep track of your oil and coolant temp delta's you do not want to see more than a 20 degree difference in the two once the truck is up to operating temp if you see this its time for a oil cooler. if you tune the truck go with sct in my opinion and a million other guys opinions there the best on the market for the 6.0. if you plan to get really wild you should install head studs. and the biggest thing i think that alot of guys forget is you can't drive the truck around slow all the time you have to exercise the turbo i don't mean pound it in the ground every chance you get but i figure at least once a week take off like a bat outta hell otherwise the vgt in the turbo gets sticky. oh and welcome to the org.

Thanks, it looks like I have some serious research to do. I had to look up what an EGR valve was
I bought the truck for weekend use like pulling a trailer to the dump and picking up landscaping supplies for around the house.
I would also like to get a 10' pr 11' camper for taking the family camping.
I was just out driving around (wasting fuel) for fun. Wow this is one big truck. I am 6'-3" and around 230# and I almost lost in the sheer space inside this cab. My 05 Chev was nowhere near as wide.

I was part of a Malibu boat site for years...and yeah you can kill some serious time on these sites if you want.
I have also found that enthusiast sites usually have the answers to almost any question that you can think of.
