Well, I have been looking around here for about a month or two now and figured I would introduce myself. I just bought a used 2005 Ford SD PSD 4x4 with 75k on the odometer. It is xlt trim in the extended cab short bed flavor with the auto transmission. I always told myself i would never own a black truck, but I couldn't resist when I got this one. It is black on top and silver on the bottom. The bumpers are also painted silver to match the lower panel color. The only chrome on the truck is the factory running boards and grill.
As for performance it had an airaid intake on it as well as a 4" exhaust with a 5" tip. Not sure on who makes it. It has the kitty deleted, though, and what looks to be a flow through muffler. The tires are 285 Nitto Terra Grappler's on the factory polished bullet hole wheels.
Since buying it I noticed it was loosing coolant, and after looking around on here learned it had a head gasket or EGR cooler problem. That has now been fixed (under warranty) and I had ARP head studs put in instead of the factory bolts. Hopefully now it will be trouble free for the rest of its life.
This is not the first Ford diesel I have ever owned. I also had a 1986 Ford 250 HD 4x4 with the good old 6.9 naturally aspirated diesel in it. Regular cab, long bed, in a off-white color. It was SLOW but very reliable for sure. The odometer stopped working before we sold it, but it had well over 300k on it before it was sold.
My dad also has a 1999 7.3 PSD 4x4 6 speed crew cab. It has turned out to be an excellent truck for him. I think he has like 280k on it now.
As for me I am recently taking a break from the rock crawling thing for a little while. Fewer and fewer spots were open to play in and all the private land was getting very expensive. I will probably get a fourwheeler to replace the Jeep for fun woods riding now. maybe i will get another Jeep later down the road now that I have something decent to pull it with. Anyway, I got this truck with the money from the Jeep. I hope it turns out to be as good as previous Ford's I have owned. I can't wait to slide a chip in this thing to see what kind of hidden potential it has now... especially with studs holding the heads on.
The forum has been great so far and everyone has been kind in answering my questions. Glad to have forund the org!
