hello everyone!! new member with a couple of questions

hello there. just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. im mike, im 18, and i live in the great san fernando valley of southern california. well to get straight to the point, im very close to picking up a 2008 F-250 6.4l crew cab long bed 4X4 king ranch and had a couple of questions. this is my first diesel so i am still learning but what is regen?? i keep hearing about it and just keep getting more confused, can somebody shed some light? also for the 08 6.4l is there a programer out yet that will let me run a MBRP exhaust with the DPF delete and wont throw codes or actually cancle out what the DPF is supposed to do??

Hey Mike .....I'll give you the basic run down of regen. Regen is short for regeneration mode. This is a process in which the truck "cleans" the EPA "approved" DPF or diesel particulate filter. When the truck senses a major difference in the EGTs sensors located on the DPF the truck goes in a regen mode, in which the computer injects more fuel into the motor to raise the EGTs to around 1200F. You will notice a slight loss of power, the truck will have a different tone to it, and despite what Ford or the EPA says, your fuel mileage will decrease. The high EGTs are suppose to burn the soot that is caught in the DPF and therefore cleaning it out. There is a programmer out from KEM performance/ Spartan Diesel Tech. You have your choices of stock tranny tune, 50HP towning tune, 80HP performance, 125-150HP race, 200HP extreme, and 250HP tune coming soon all the tunes are available with a regen delete. You can also find you DPF delete there as well. There is also a company in Houston call DPFdelete.com that say they have a regen delete tune with an Edge programmer. I haven't heard anything else about it. Hope you get the truck

hey thank you TwinTurboStroker for all the usefull info, and thank all you guys for the great welcome. glad to be here. and yeah i know the forums are addicting lol, i kinda get sucked into them by all they cars i have owned. well gotta run, im heading over to galpin ford to see what kinda numbers they can work for me, especially with my close friends brother in-law being the sales manager lol. ill keep you guys informed.


P.S. you said "KEM performance/ Spartan Diesel Tech" is that like the same company, and where can i get one from?
