SE Ohio Newbie

Hello all from SE Ohio... just purchased a 94 powerstroke with 202000 miles... Ext cab 4x4... 5 speed... XLT trim..... nice truck for the age..... just a couple basic getting-to-know-her questions
1. what is the engine oil capacity?
1a. What oil does everyone use... I generally use rotella syn in my diesels with a mobil1 filter but I'd be happy to hear what everyone else uses
2. Anyone use a fuel additive? I use the stuff from wallymart.. diesel clean I think it's called
3. what kind of MPG (generally speaking) can I expect if I keep my foot out of it?
4. I ended up with a superchips MAX tuner in the deal... it's not in the truck or has been used in the truck... I just wanted it to read codes and be able to clear them so I bought it in addition to the truck... did think of using it just to turn it up a notch just for MPG help... guy at the dealership who says he's a "FORD" guy said I would be ok to use it max setting as she is stock as long as I'm not towing I'd be safe.... sounded a little "I better check this out before I try it" so I'm throwing that out to you all also.
5. Just a general question... anyone have a "Hey those 94's were bad about_____"... or "keep any eye on ____"
Thanks in advance

Bigchief

well im no expert on what to look for on those early truck (your 94) but i wouldnt run the tunner on anything other than the low setting to help aviod any issuses. Get a price from Gus at FarmboyDiesel.com for a price on a exhaust, prolly 3-350 shipped! As far as oil, it holds 14 quarts including filter. All i run is Balwin filter, something like 12 bucks, i order them through our supplier but most truck dealers sell em, big trucks. I always fill my fitler before i put it on but some dont so to each his own. All we have ever run in any of our diesel and gas tractors is 15W40 Rottela T. Cheers on the new truck, hope you have many happy trouble free miles!

you will get addicted to this site so be careful.
congrats on the truck I think you will be happy.
with my 5 speed (95) stock I was getting 16-22 MPG 22 being good and mostly highway. my oil of choice is Dello 400 15-40 and has been very good for me (changed every 3000).
for my fuel additive i use 2 cycle oil 1/100 and about once a month or 2 months i will add a diesel additive.
as for the tuner that is someone else's deal but im sure they will help soon. hope this helps and have fun on the ORG its a blast here.
