I want my Powerstroke back

Hello,

My name is CJ and I am new to the forum. I am driving a '99 F250 5.4L manual ECSB 4X4 and have been for 8 years. My last rig was a '94 F250 powerstroke ECLB. 4x4.

I want my diesel back. I have loose plans to by a bigger boat in the next couple of years and need a rig to tow it. I like the '94-'97 body style so that's the one I want. I want a dually to support the weight I'm gonna be towing (probably around 12,000 pounds). I also only drive manuals and live where there is snow so I want a 4x4. My family has also grown so I need a crew cab.

The truck I am describing is getting very hard to find so I want to explore on this forum the possibilities for building it. I am looking for advise on making a SRW a DRW or making a DRW auto a manual. Any advice on where to post these questions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
CJ

it's probably going to be best to find a 2wd crew cab dually which is easier to find and convert that to 4x4. this way your gvw on the truck is going to be set high so you can legally tow the extra weight. converting a truck to a dually won't raise the gvw.

or get a '99-'03 which is much easier to find with the options you're looking for and will have much better interior and noticeably more power.

Steve, if I get a SRW and put a DRW axle under it haven't I gotten the GVWR of the DRW? I am honestly asking, not trying to be a wiseacre. Isn't the only difference between the SRW and the DRW the rear axle? Provided the gears are the same of course.

By the gears comment I mean if I use 4.10's don't I get the DRW 4.10's GVWR?
