Hello from Florida

Hey guys, I wanted to hop in here and introduce myself. My name is Mark and I am a very proud owner of a 2006 F250 extra cab. I have owned Fords a while back but I lost confidence in the quality and reliability of them and veered over to Nissan. I traded my Nissan truck in on the F250 at my work, I work as a technitian at my local Hyundai dealership here in Vero Beach. I have heard the horror stories about the head issues with the 6.0 so before I pulled the trigger on the deal I took it and hade it completely inspected by a ford diesel master tech and I was told by him that the truck was in excellent condition and it has no issues whatsoever. Let me tell you a little about the truck, She has a nice set of 20 inch Welds forged wheels wrapped in a set of Nitto Trail Grappler MT tires 35's. She's sitting pretty on a 6 inch (estimating) Pro-Comp full suspension lift with a nice set of Quad pro-comp front shocks. the engine is stock everything except a small little tuner on it that I don't have a whole lot of confidence in (not sure of the name) but its said something like MS-8 on it or something like that.

My plans are to install a nice Diamond Eye 4inch turbo back exhaust and complete the EGR delete to help out with the fuel mileage. It does have a decent aftermarket sound system in it that sounds pretty good ( some kicker speakers and an amp)...the deck that was in it was a DVD player which I didn't like so I changed it out and installed a nice kenwood deck with Bluetooth.

I know at some point I may have to deal with the head studs but ill cross that bridge when I get there.

here is a picture of it...

Thanks for the replies guys, I would like to hear a little feedback (good or bad) as to whether or not doing the exhaust and the EGR delete actually increases fuel mileage. I have read that it does but I've also read mixed results....thoughts?

Welcome... I'm new here my self and to the whole diesel truck thing,
I am also in a similar situation, just picked up a 350 and been reading regarding fuel mileage mods.
From what I've read so far the EGR delete is something more for the longevity of the engine and seems like increased gas mileage is just a by product of the engine breathing better.

The exhaust won't get you any gains but will help lower your EGT's and the egr delete might get you one or two mpg gains but more importantly it is one less thing to go wrong.
