Hello from the Great Northwest!

Hello all glad to be here as the name implies this will be my 5th Ford. Currently I own a 1989 Mustang GT, my baby a work in progress, a 2004 Expedition Eddie Bauer the family car, a 2007 Focus that my girl has dubbed the ďspearmint unicornĒ our commuter, and had a 1993 F-150 extended cab 351W and I sold last year, what a mistake that was! So now Iím in the market for a hunting/hauling truck, which leads me here. I have a good friend that I have known for 15 years that is the general manager at one of the Ford dealerships in my area Iím in Tri-Cities Wa. They have a couple of OBS trucks on the lot that Iím looking at. One is a 1996 F-250 7.3 Power Stroke extended cab with 228,000 miles that Iím pretty sure I can get for around $4500-$5000. It does have a little rust on the passenger rear wheel well, but overall itís in good shape. The other one is a 1993 single cab F-250 gasser that is quite a bit cheaper that I will fall back on if I absolutely have to but IĎm really wanting the diesel. So here I am trying to learn as much about them as I can doing my homework so to say so I can make an educated purchase. If you have any question or comments about the truck Iím looking at shoot them over to me. I will not be making the purchase till the end of June when we get back from taking a family trip to California. Thanks Bigfred

One of the most expensive things (besides fuel haha) about owning a diesel can be injector replacement. If/when you buy it try and see if your friend has any maintenance records that might divulge a little bit of the trucks history. If the injectors have been replaced recently than it makes the truck a lot more attractive.FYI: White exhaust smoke or hard starts often are related to bad injectors.
