Newbie in Minnesota w/ early 1999 7.3
I took the scariest plunge two weeks ago, which is a Craigslist Truck purchase 1000 miles away from home. I based my willingness to purchase as much on my conversations with the seller as what was stated in the original ad. He is a nice young man working in the farming community owning 3 other PSD trucks.
I got just a basic short body XL, but it was low miles (113,000,) and had a 6 speed manual tranny, Oh, and it is Purple which makes this a rare breed indeed.
While it was mostly stock, it did have a new HD clutch, and large intakes and a 4" exhaust. I am happy to report that I got home just fine. It needs some work, but my son is a newly graduated diesel mechanic (thus this bonding agent...)
I have already learned somethings about diesel systems as it wouldn't start in the Minnesota cold. I learned here to get the Stancor glow plug relay and it is already on the way....
I am so thankful for this forum and appreciate the advice already given!!!
