Hello!

I'm looking at buying an out of state 2004 Ford F250 FX-4 from a buddy of mine. He's giving me a great price but of course it needs to pass smog first. It's currently running a Banks 6-gun Tuner, Banks High-Ram Intercooler, and K&N cold air intake.

I've been perusing the site trying to take in as much info as I can, but it appears that all three mods won't be a problem with smog, as long as I flash the tuner to California specks. Right?

Anyway, I hope I can get it all worked out and bring this thing home.

Man this is tough. Just talked to the smog guy and I will need to be stock from the turbo to the CAT. I can't even find a system that is CA legal, nor a CAT anywhere.

I'm up above Fresno, closer to Yosemite National Park.

Yeah, I'm in the process of checking around, but since the new laws back in 2010, these things are hard to come by. Especially the CAT.

I tell ya, I've been wanting a truck for a long time, never thought I'd be looking at a Diesel. One drive was all it took, I'm hooked. Even though I've been hearing all sorts of things about how expensive these things are to work on, I don't think anything can deter me from owning one.

If you're interested, we have a chapter up here for NorCal. I know you're more Central CA, but you're more than welcome to jump in with us if you want.

I've checked out the chat area, but never saw anyone in there.

I'm kinda laying low until I purchase this truck. Getting the CAT needed for smog is becoming a real difficult task. My buddy said he'll pay for the CAT, but wants to look around a bit to see if he can find a cheaper alternative. Good thing is, he wants me to drive it around to make sure I really want it, being that it's my first diesel. I've been driving it for a week now and still love it.

If everything works out, I'll join the group and probably be a lot more vocal.
