6.0 head gasket ?

Just bought a wrecked 2003 power stroke to fix for myself .It just got delivered yesterday, drove it two blocks to wash it before teardown, went to the shop this morning and seen what look to be coolant on the floor on the passengers side right above the starter.this engine has 120,000 miles on it . If it is a head gasket .whats it usually cost to fix,I live in nebraska 30 miles west of holdrege, If any of you from nebraska know a good shop, new to the power stroke ownership, any help is appreciated .

coolant leak

Hi there, your leak is more then likely the egr cooler hose that is under the turbo. The headgaskets on a 6.0 wont leak coolant externally. If you get up on top of your motor and look down on under the front of your turbo there will be an orange or blue hose about 2.5 inches long. More then likely an orange one. They will leak and run down the bellhousing on the pass side.

Look around here a bit. I think I seen last night someone saying something about a hosefitting in that area above the starter cracking. I think they said it drips right on the starter. Its worth a look.

There you go I was too slow. this knows more about what hes talking about.

sounds t me like the conectio hose from the egr cler to the oil cooler is leaking , fairly common in early 6.0 , there s a updated hose to fix that problem, its blue , if that hose is leaking it will drip down right by the starter
