Hi all,

I just purchased my first PSD

97 F250 XL

2WD, super cab, 8' bed, auto trans, 4:10 rear

The truck has 230,00 miles & has been (somewhat) well cared for & looks good.

I bought it from my employer (our old work truck)

Here is what I know about it:

Newer tires (probably 10-15 K on them)

The trans has been repalced about 2 or 3 times (heavy towing) The first 2 times it was rebuilt & the last time, they put in a new one. Im guessing it now has about 60k on the trans

The front end has been gone through (ball joints & etc...)

I think the rear end has also had some work (dont know the details)

Anayway, the truck seems to run well & cosmeticly it is very nice & not beat up.

It does have an oil leak, that looks like the rear main, but I was told that it is not.

I am guesing it is one of the HP pump seals, or something along those lines. I have not looked into it yet.

I purchased the vehicle primarily as a firewood hauler & general beater/utility truck.

I paid $2600 for it. Does this seem like a fair deal ??

Over the next few weeks, I will be going over it, changing the oil, fuel filter, coolant & etc..

Is there anything I should be looking out for ??

I dont know much about diesels (this is my first) but I have always done my own maint & repair on all my past & present vehicles.

Mike that sounds like a good deal. The best part is you know who had it and can ask them what been replaced on it. Sounds like it has had alot done already so you should be good to go with a little left to do.
