New in NY
Whats up guys? I been wanting a diesel for about 10 years, just couldn't ever afford a nice one! Well, I finally got one, but I gotta tell the story.
I stopped at a used car lot to check out a 97' F450 std. cab, short wheelbase, duelly, diesel, with dump box. As it turns out, it was 2WD, so I passed on it, then the salesman talks me into an 03' Dodge Ram quad cab with a hemi. Long story short, I went to pick it up this past Tuesday, and he tells me that he can't get the lein release on the truck, and it has to go back to the auction. I immediatly called my lawyer - no I'm not the type to try to sue everyone I can, but I rely on my trucks to make money, I was told I would have my truck Tuesday, so I planned on that. I signed a contract to have a job done on the following friday, and every day I go past the due date costs me an extra $500 off the contract price.
Needless to say, I found out that he wasn't legally supposed to sell me the truck until he had all papers in hand. (I had him by the balls & he knew it)
From that point on, the owner of the dealership took good care of me. He said I could have any truck on the lot for the same price as the Ram
($10,800), the only problem was every other truck he had sucked! I told him no deal, and he could look forward to a call from my lawyer. He immediatly fired back with "theres an auction tomorrow, you go with me, and we'll get you setup with something you like.
We go to the auction an hour early to check out what they had, and the first truck that caught my eye was an 02' F350 crew cab, fully loaded Lariat, short box w/ a powerstroke. You could tell he was getting nervous!
As it turns out, the truck had a gooseneck hitch already installed, so it had to go through the auction as having frame damage because it had holes drilled in the frame!
Bottom line - he kept his word, he got the truck for $12,600 - then sold it to me for the original truck price of $10,800!!!!!!!!!!!!
This truck is sweet, it has 150K on it, but it looks, runs, and rides like new!
Thats my story, sorry so long, but I'm still excited about it - I finally got my diesel.
I just ordered a 6" lift kit, 35" tires, 17" wheels for it, and next month will be an intake, exhaust, programmer, and gauges.
Alittle further down the road, I'm thinking propane.
Let me know what you guys think
