so i just bought an 05 ECSB theft recovery online(yeah you read it right. i live life without a net- lol) and it arrived today!

ive been trolling doing some research etc past several months, but now its official, Im an owner. got a couple questions, and a photo, hoping gfor some answers

what is this? I know its some sort of plugs, but why here? options?




and the truck appears to have a 4" exhaust(did they come stock?) and an S&B air filter/intake(this looks like a cotton oiled filter and ive heard KN are bad, are others?)

Welcome to the org fellow Virginian. Where are you located? And I'm not seeing a picture. They came with 3 1/2 exhaust. Yes stay away from k&n filters they will mess up the turbo

thanks for responding. not sure why you dont see the pic. i see it, and its even got the little "report this image" tag. anyways, im in hampton roads, the beach specfically.

not sure if this ones a k&n, but the rest of the intake says s&b, the filter just looks like a regular old cotton oiled filter.

Congrats on the truck and welcome to the wonderful world of diesel trucks! They are a lot of fun, but they aren;t really for the faint-hearted lol

As far as your truck goes, I would get some type of monitoring solution to keep an eye on temps.

yep ive read those, in fact ive read every thread that will lead me to believe i just bought crap or a fast track to 20k. anyways. i was screwing around today, replacing shocks etc(cant do anything else, waiting of the title and new tires) stuck my finger in the degas, brownish sludge(light brown, not oil, but....) only on top(im guessing here, cant see). took a syringe and drew fluid out and it was clear(literally, crystal clear. thought maybe the PO just put water in the tank, but it was sweeeeeeet)

theft recovery, clean carfax up to 76K, then nothing until stolen and sold (111k) now i own it. guys selling it stated new EGR, and oil cooler, coolant flush.

please tell me ANYthing but HGs blown...and dont lie. havent had a chance to drive it hard, but when i drove it it the other day, nothing indicative of any issues. quick puff of smoke at start up, and thats it. im not against changing HGs and studs, just not yet.

btw thanks, for the replies. i did download the torque program, etc. plannign on a scan gauge. no need for much else as im not planning on much else, unless someone convinces me for MPG reasons...
