Angry My new 08 ?

New here but have been reading 4 a while. I've had my 08 since march and have almost 20k on it. The best milage i've seen yet is 11-12 mpgI've had it flashed 2 times already to update system. Trucks B-Day is 1/07 so it's one of the early ones. Here other people say they get 15-16 mpg think it's B.S. I can get that 2 if i do 55 and go down hill but i eventually i have 2 come back up. Had a 7.3 (great engine) All my buddies have deisels and they all say (chip this exhaust that) i put an AFE intake on it and that threw the engine light code on 3 diff. times. I'm good friends with head deisel mech. 4 ford and he says dont mess with it yet to soon.I'm even adding cetane booster. Any ideas before i trade it in and get screwed.

I am not happy with mine either. I can get pretty good empty milage if I can go 75 or less, but if the wind is blowing, or I am pushing it I can drop from 17 to 13 pretty easy. Mine is so gutless it is not even funny!! I pull BIG trailers and my '94 Factory Turbo will pull with it and get's 10mpg where my 6.4 gets 5-7 and it has 290,000 miles!!! I am going to try and get Ford to buy mine back, I hate the way it pulls!! I kick myself every day for not keeping my 99.5 7.3, it pulled great and got excellent pulling milage. My 6.4 has 20,000 miles and was born 3-07, should have waited I guess.

the 6.4's dont do well around town driving. Doing a fuel economy test with the IDS ive seen a pretty consistant 8-10 MPG around town (45mph and lower type stop and go driving) but hiway milage seems to sit at about 18-22 MPG over a 10 mile average..... A lot of it is driving habbits.....AND from what i can tell testing it at work, cruise controll helps hiway milage about 2-3 MPG..... Speeds above 70MPH seem to really reduce economy as well......

I would give it a little more time..... I'm sure there are about to be MANY more options on the market for these trucks to help with these problems.

My 99 7.3 at 60,000 miles got better mileage/power than new (new best was 17 on the highway, at 60,000 could get 20 mpg)(I drove it like I stole it-pulled trailers from 4k to 8k consistently). I bought this 07 used at 31,000 miles, previous owner sold it because of low mpg's.My view was it possibly was not broke in, he purchased a dmax and has worse mpgs with it. Is it possible the 6.4 is not broke in?
