New to the site and diesels...

hi everyone. I'm new to the site and to the diesel world. I have always owned a gas vehicle and now decided to get into the diesel world (only because I love the sound and my neighbors got me into them). Just trying to get some general info aboutt he diesels... what to do and what not to do in general operating, what mods to do and what to stay away from, etc. My buddy just gave me a Banks Ottomind chip for the truck. Checked out the Banks site to find out more info and it looks to be a good chip. Does anyone have any info on it, used one, etc?

Welcome to the org!!!!!
Look around lots of info here.
Be sure to check out the 99-03 7.3 section on the forums page.
As far as the ottomind, put that puppy in, most of the banks stuff is top notch. Wouldnt pay the price to buy it, but yours was free. And might want to check into a set of guages to keep up with EGTs and boost levels before you do to much to her.

Thanks guys. I've already learned a hard lesson that diesels can be expensive to repair. Had the truck for 4 months and the #6 injector went out. Just a little scared to do too much with it and cause issues with the truck. I've been looking at guages (like a triple pod) but wasn't sure if I needed everything in the pod. Right now just using a stock turbo.
