New from Southern Arizona
Good day to all. I just purchased a 2004 F250 SRW FX4 Lariat with 89,000 on the clock (hope to get a photo up here at some point). Big difference from driving my WRX but I like it much more. Last truck I had was an 86 Nissan 4X4 that I purchased from my First Sergeant's daughter for $1,900 in 2004 when I retired from the Army (21 years). BIG difference between that truck and this one!
I have been lurking here for about a month now and read some really good posts with some great information. I have learned a great deal already (for instance, I knew my truck wasn't studded because some great people here have posted photos that made it clear what to look for) and admit I did review the "What to look for..." post but forgot most of it in the excitement of getting a real truck (my brain cell got overloaded with the autonomous functions and new truck euphoria). Anyway, thanks for the great site and the friendly and helpful attitude I've seen in many of the posts. Richard |

Thanks everyone.
I'm now on the Arizona Powerstroke Group (thanks ZMANN) as well (same username). Like I posted over there, I'm now in need of changing oil and EGR coolers (my delta is approaching 15*). I was blissfully ignorant until I got on this board and started checking things (that monitoring the PSD thread was really good information). However, I'm left with a dilemma and that is where to get the truck repaired? I have the tools (left over from my motorcycle mechanic and roadracing days and when I graduated UTI), but I'm short things like a means to lift the heads and time; the truck is my DD. Although I'd really like to stud the engine so I can maximize the usefulness of the time spent to change the EGR and oil coolers, I'm really toying with the idea of just repairing the truck (well, preventive repair because I haven't seen any signs of the "bad things that can happen" when this condition isn't repaired). I have some 5-gallon buckets with lids, but does Autozone / Checker / O'Reilly / NAPA accept 7 gallons of coolant and 7 gallons of VC-9 contaminated distilled water? Richard |
