New in Southeast PA
New to the board, mostly joined since I'm looking to replace my gas '95 F-250. I'm looking for an extended cab, long bed, automatic, 4x4 and diesel, preferably no older than my '95.
I found one that sounds tempting, just want to get others opinions. What do people think of this? This is the ad: 2004 Ford F-350 SD Diesel 4x4 Extended Cab Long bed truck. This is a fully loaded FX4 package truck with all service work done as needed. It has a NEW CP8 meyer plow, NEW digital brake controller, Hitch, auto/manual hubs, NEW BFG tires, NEW Rancho RS5000 shocks, NEW Brakes, K&N Cold air intake kit, Upgraded Turbo with waste gate(he said it is a factory replacement but the stock one didn't have the waste gate), Recent brakes and hardware all the way around. There is just 110,000 miles on the truck and it has about 1 hour plow time mostly for demonstration of the plow to customers. This has the new Automatic Transmission in it with tow/haul mode(NOT E4OD) (Anyone know what model tranny this might be? I'm assuming it is better than the e4OD since he points out it is not the e4OD) Milage is high for the year, but it won't be my daily driver so the milage will climb just a few thousand a year. For price he said $21,000 but cash talks and he would also sell without the plow if I didn't want it (I don't need it but if I could resell for decent money, I'd get it and resell). I've got no idea what a plow like that would sell for on the used market. I'm seen mention of an oasis report, what exactly is that, a report that shows all factory service work done it? Milage he said he gets about 16 mixed, 22 highway....does that sound about right (and believeable). Anything I should ask the seller about specifically? It looks nice in the pic (silver and white, side steps, alloy wheels). Thanks for any advice on the above questions!! Thanks Bruce |

Welcome aboard! The tranny is a 5R110 Torqshift. On a stock truck they are nearly bulletproof. Even on high hp modded trucks they hold up well.

If you become a Premium Member, Oasis reports are free, they give you all kinds of info including any warranty work done. Being am 04, i would check for puking problems, turbo issues, and i beleive EGR cooler.
A tech will hopefully check in to confirm what i am saying! And ![]() I live and work in Northern Delaware, whereabouts you out of? |

Welcome to the .org! That doesn't sound like a bad price and the MPG #'s are "believable", but I'd suspect the Hwy # is a couple too high.
Make sure you take off the K&N filter and check to see if any dust or fine particles have gotten thru the intake -- SOMETIMES the K&N filters allow larger particles thru b/c of the air demand of these diesel engines |
