never owned a diesel.

Hello members! Thanks for having me. I am a new member that just purchased a 96 f-250 7.3 with 67k miles. Recently it has been hard starting (temps around 32f, high humidity) and doggin' it first trip in the morning. When i give it throttle, initial response is fine, then rpm drops a few hundred and the engine sounds very throaty and loses power. The strange thing is it wont do it 2 hours later. havent added chemicals to fuel yet and am plugging in 2 hours before start. Sound familiar to someone? all hlp is appreciated. Thanks all!

Welcome to the ORG.!

Do you hear a hissing sound when it is losing power? It is probably the EBPV closing to warm the engine. Try unplugging the two wire connector under the inlet side of the turbo compressor housing to see if it stops.
