Hey guys, my name is Ray, I'm 19 and from long island, new york. I will be purchasing a 6.0 powerstroke within the next few week and I am really excited. I will be using this truck as both daily driver and a truck to tow my mustang to and from the track I do have some question though. What are some things to look for in buying a diesel truck specifically the 6.0. I have heard they have issues with the head gaskets alot. What are some key things to look for to make sure I pick out a good one? Thanks in advance!

Is there a specific one you are looking at?

It is really a crap shoot. You want to find out the trucks past. An oasis report from ford will tell you everything that was done under warranty. Past that, feel out the owner and try and get an idea of how the vehicle was maintained.

Past that, there are only a thousand other things to worry about, think about, read about.

Welcome over! I just joined up from Long Island as well! Recently picked up a 2004 and love it. Like everyone else said, just read up... A LOT It will pay off for sure. Next best thing is to take a scanner with you to look at the truck or something like an edge insight to plug into the truck to read out all the important data like FICM voltage, EOT vs ECT etc.

well here she is!!! 2004 f250 6.0 lariat. 176k miles. one owner! clean carfax and everything was serviced through ford! even the damn wiper blades have motorcraft stamped on them. guess this guy really took care of this truck. picked her up for 11,900 here are some pics
