Diesel newbie from OK
This is basically my first post, except for a couple of replies to someone elses post. I'm a newbie to the diesel world - and love my new (old) truck! Acquired a stone-stock 2001 F250 CC, Lariat 4X4, 7.3 in August and have been absorbing all the great info / member expereinces in this forum. Thanks!
Looking at some minor perf. mods for some increased power and fuel economy, if that's possible. Just a little more umpff, no serious towing. Have in mind the following and wanted anyone interested to chime in with opinions / experiences. Here's my want list:
cold air intake
4" complete exhaust w/ muffler (not too loud - want to hear the turbo)
chip or tuner (TS-6?? or SCT??)
IDM mod (7.3 seems a bit slugish just off idle)
That's about it for now. She's stone-stock except for 285/75/16's and I think the speedo may be off little, too. May need to re-calibrate. The lie-o-meter doesn't seem to be very consistent so my MPG to date has been from actual tank fills. Seems to be getting around 17 mpg onloaded on the hwy at 65. Not sure if that's good or bad in comparison to others.
