New to Forum

Hello everyone. Great looking forum. I live in SoCal and just purchased a used 2012 Ford F450 4X4 with 25400 miles on it. So far so good

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I made a trip from SoCal to Florida hauling a 8K lb box trailer, I really mean box. 7ft wide 8ft tall 20 ft long. The trailer was 10 ft (pushing lots of wind) from the ground to the top. At the truck scale, trailer registered 7960 lbs. I averaged 9.4 mpg going and dropped the trailer and the return trip empty avg mpg was 15.6. Not impressed with the mpg, I was hoping for better, but it is what it is. My truck is a 2012 Ford F450 lariat 4X4 4.30 gears, so I understand the mpg. When I purchased the truck I traded in a 2005 Chevy 2500 HD with 90K miles on it. It was getting 9.9 mpg towing and 21 mpg running lite, but it wasn't 4X4 so that explains some of it. But i'm happy with the truck. This next summer I will be towing my 5th wheel and see how the mpg does. I enjoy all the reading available here, sheds some light on what to expect. I would like to add that I purchased my truck at Sunrise Ford in Fontana Ca. Whom I see is a sponsor here. Great to know that
