First Powerstroke

Hi, my name`s James. Picked up my first powerstroke back in June!
1996 F250 2WD Regular Cab with 228,000km (141,600 miles)




I previously got into diesels a couple months before that, picked up an 1986 Ford Ranger with the Mitsubishi 2.3 Diesel. Fixed it up, but decided to sell it as it was too small of a truck for me and very underpowered.

My powerstroke replaced my Gas Guzzler 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 V8 AWD. That got 12-15MPG, and I'm getting 18-22MPG out of my powerstroke.

Only things I've done are add nerf bars on, and intalled a RiffRaff 6637 mod cold air intake. I'm going to be putting on a DiamondEye 4" turbo back exhaust on in the near future, as I've heard you get even 1-2 more MPG alone just from installing a 3" downpipe. It also came with a free canopy (but it's not in the best shape)

I'm hoping to learn a lot here as all my knowledge is based on gas engines (other Ford cars currently owned: 1986 Mustang 5.0, 1994 Ford Explorer, and previously a 1994 Ford Taurus SHO 3.2).

It now has 245,000km on it (152,200 miles) so I've driven it 17,000km (10,500 miles) since June trouble free! It's a great truck and I hope to own it a long time!

Welcome I have a 96 7.3 also, 308k miles. The 3" downpipe and solid flywheel with luk clutch is the only mods I ever did. I also have an 04 6.0, that has a clogged oil cooler, hehe.

First, if you own an 86 mustang 5.0, we are friends!!!!! Lol

Second, i drove a similar truck when landscaping and it was a sweet rig.

Yea, the mustang needs a little bodywork, but its getting a 351w/T5 setup this winter! Gonna be fun next year
Eventually will have a 387 stroker with Yates C302 heads and be a full racecar, at which point I will have to find a car trailer to be pulled behind my powerstroke!

Good luck with the T5! That is why my car is currently NOT being driven! Lol
they dont take much abuse.

Getting into yates heads is a HUGE step up! It will be a runner for sure then.
