NOOB from Southern, IL

Greetings everyone! New guy here from about 75 miles southeast of St. Louis, MO. I do not currently own a PSD, but am on hunt for a 2000-2002 or early '03 Excursion 4x4 with a 7.3.

After a recent vacation with the family and spending 13 hours cramped up in a smaller SUV, the wife and I got to talking and decided it would make more sense to have something MUCH bigger interior wise for travel as well as something that would get better mileage than my current DD.

Now, when I say NOOB, I mean NOOB! I am not new to forums or how they work, but I have been driving gasoline, brand "G" trucks for years, so when I find "the one", it will be my first diesel. I do have a buddy that is a diesel mechanic at the local Ford garage, and he has pointed out a few things to look for,so I'm pretty confident in my 7.3 choice.

From what reading I have done so far, I think I can learn quite a bit here. Looking forward to making new friends as well!

Welcome! Good to see another Illinois stroker. If you are looking for reliability the 7.3 is definitely a good choice you wont be disappointed
