New Powerstroke owner

Hi Folks;

stumbled onto your forum, hope you don't mind that I've jumped in.

Just bought my first Diesel this last week in Longmont, CO. It's a 2007 F250 XLT Crewcab with 6.5Ft Bed;

took it on a 1000mi road trip over the holiday weekend out to the flaming gorge towing 3 rafts and frames, dryboxes and coolers. Can't say enough about the truck. hauled 13.1-13.5mpg going out and then 15.5 coming home.

Look forward to gaining insight on my truck and diesels in general from this site.

thanks.
-Scott

Glad to have another 6.0L owner on board!! The only initial recommendation I would make would be to get a data monitor like the Scangauge2 so you can keep an eye on things.

elvis, thanks for the info.

I really hesitated to buy the 6.0L truck for awhile since there seems to be a fair ammount of bad press on the injectors or the SPC connector deal.

What does the scangauge do specifically that's special to a diesel engine? I've wandered around their website and walked through the quick start manual, but didn't see anything special that my iphone and my OBD2 code reader can't do - MPG and error codes?

... I've also been looking at the Garmin EcoBoost gizmo for real-time gauging updates. Curious to know if anyone has had experience with that device too?

The Scangauge will monitor most of the necessary data points for the 6.0L diesel. For example engine coolant temp, engine oil temp, trans temp, ICP pressure, FICM voltage, etc.

Need to keep an eye on the difference between coolant temp and oil temp.
