Hi from newb

Hi all, I finally joined. I actually perused the site for a few years when researching parts for my truck. Until recently, I haven't had to do a damn thing to my 99' SDCC for 13 years other than general mainenance and recall items. This week I have spent over $3000 just in parts to keep it on the road. Last week was new batteries and alternator at a cost of $589, this week was AC compressor, water pump, T-stat, drive belt, fuel filter, shocks, door click, tie rods and maybe a few parts I dont' remember. I did have the dealer install the AC pump and had them do the waterpump while it was there, costly mistake. They wanted to charge me $284.00 to install a T-stat as well even while everything was open and accessible. I told them no and told them why. My truck has been rock solid over the years and doesn't leak a drop of anything. It currently has 255,000 miles on it and I'm hoping for another 250k. I use the truck for hauling tile/stone, job trailers and boats. I take it camping, fishing, hunting and haul furniture for moves. The front end looks a little dated but I absolutley love my truck. Looking forward to rubbing wits with y'all.

Thanks Hank. I appear to be the only guy not very interested in turning my truck into a hotrod. It is an early 99' and there are some mods I can do to give it a bit more power but I already have a car that's fast and expensive to fix, I don't really need a truck breaking down on me because I'm boosting it far beyond what it was designed for and compromise my reliability. I currently have no mods to my truck whatsoever except a bit larger tires, a canopy, side steps, tail light lense covers and a bed rug. That's about it. I do enjoy reading about what everyone has done to their trucks and I think what I have learned so far is more than enough information to garner a lifetime membership. Keep up the good work everyone. Thanks to the mods for creating a great site and to all the contributors for posting such good information on this forum.
