Tell me your experiences

I'm new to this site. My reason for joining is we just purchased a 32 foot travel trailer and I'm looking for real life people to tell me (good or bad) about their Powerstroke diesels. I've had Ford diesel since 1986. That stopped when I purchased a new 2003 6.0 stroke. After a year and a half of problems it was taken back by Ford. I never had problems with my old 6.9 or my 7.3. So now I started researching the new Powerstroke diesels. What kind of work do you do with your truck? What kind of mileage do you normally achieve? Also if I were to purchase a new truck is there modification to the truck I should do, or avoid. I appreciate all input. No truck yet so I'm kicking tires. Anybody got a great deal?

I do some landscaping and hauling, but I mostly have the truck because of my interest in diesels particularly the 6.0. All though there are some issues with the 6.0 they can be prevented (my sig) with studs, gauges, egr delete, and a tuner. I have an SCT w/idp's xtreme tunes high horsepower tunes is the key to good mileage. I get 16-17 normally but can get up to 20 going a steady 55-60. Loin around on the 6.0 stickies to figure out what you need. Also list your truck and some of its upgrades.

First of all,

Second, not to sound rude, but if you do a little searching around the site, you can find a TON of threads about this exact same question. I have a 6.4 with 150,000 miles and loving it. Starting to have a small oil leak in the turbo but other than that zero issues. I am fully deleted (DPF and EGR) and have quite a few mods on my truck (as you can see in my signature) and I love the way my truck drives and pulls. I also do landscaping work on the side from being a mower mechanic. I am about to buy a 5th wheel to haul around with my truck as well.

As you can see below I have an 03 7.3. I have several trailers, often pull heavy loads local and highway. I have never checked mileage while pulling or hauling. I made a trip to mountains for christmas, four of us, two dogs, lugage and christams stuff....truck was loaded and I got 16.2 miles to the gallon at interstate speeds. I have never had any problems with my truck, I work it hard on and off road.

Good luck with whatever you get and welcome.

Welcome to the org.!

I have two 7.3s and I love them. Easy to work on if they ever need it.

I have a pair of 7.3's. 95% of what I do to them is due to my addiction, the other 5% is because of normal ware items; pumps, belts, etc. You had the first year of 6.0, with any new motor, it takes a while to work the bugs out.
