New Owner: '05 XLT 6.0L 2WD

Hello. I just picked up a Crew Cab. 162,900 on the clock. I started my search for a used truck focusing on an F150. Conversations with a couple of friends who have F250 diesels steered me in this direction. While it's definitely too much truck for my needs I wanted an engine that would last knowing that whatever I bought would be high mileage because of the age.

So, being my first diesel truck I hope to learn a lot here. I quickly learned about the issues with the 6.0L during my search. I'm told this truck had all the updates to make it run right. Only thing is the dealer had to put a new catalytic converter on it so it would be "legal" to sell. I plan on getting that removed soon.

I wanted an FX4 but that will have to wait a few more years.

Howdy, and welcome to the ORG.

First thing I recommend you getting for that new-to-you 6.0L is a monitor like the Edge Insight CS/CTS so you have a better idea of what's going on under the hood.

Thanks.

There's a ScanGauge already installed. Is that the same type of device? I just need to download the manual and figure out how to use it.
