New to power stroke/Ford

I bought a 2006 F-250 a while back 4x4 crew cab with the 6.0 and have heard about a lot of problems with the 6.0 engine. Also it is my first diesel pick up i have always been a chevy guy but decided to try out a ford. i have not yet had any problems with it yet but it's not even close to broke in yet it only has 18,000 miles on it, i have heard a lot about the head studs and EGR causing a lot of problems with it and costing around $8000 to repair. any information would be helpful. also i am new to this site so any help on where i should go on here would be greatly appreciated. thanks

First of all thank you, But since my truck only has 18,000 miles on it, do you think that i might be able to stop it with just the flushing of the coolant system, and EGR delete, or would you suggest oil cooler rebuild also as a precautionary measure to stop any damage that may have been done already. Also which would you recommend the Edge or the scangauge? either way cant do much about it know, currently deployed and truck is just sitting but would like to get this figured out shortly after i return so have time for research

The delta check will be the determining factor on the rebuild. Don't forget about a coolant filter. The filter is VERY important.

what exactly is a delta check never heard of that before, im already set on putting in a egr delete and a coolant filter along with flushing the system

The delta check is checking the difference between your eot and ect. This is done with the truck completely warmed up, driving 60-65 mph on a flat road. The temp difference should be less than 15. If its higher your oil cooler is clogged and needs to be replaced.

I wouldn't do a chemical flush unless you are replacing your oil cooler. If you do it with a healthy oil cooler you will probably clog it.

I see, thank you. i see that you have the scangauge II what do you think about it? and what about coolant filter system?
