not new to Ford, but new to powerstrokes

I just picked up a 1999 f350 xlt (02/99 build date) with the 6 speed and 165k miles on it.

i've been driving a 99 250 with the same engine and trans in it for work and it has 420k on it, so i figured i couldn't go too wrong picking up the 350 for myself.

i'll be doing some searching and reading to see what to look out for and where i can get some gains out of it power/mileage wise.

any hints will be appreciated

thanks
