Howdy from El Paso, Texas
Hi folks,
I would like to intro myself...I Just bought a 2002, 4x4, CC, SB, Super Duty, PSD w/125k miles. I've never owned a diesel, so this is a new learning experience. I am sure I will have a bunch of qestions, so If ya'll dont mind...My first one...the guy who owned the truck before me has 295 R16's on the truck...Tires rubbed the ABS sensor bald, so that has to be fixed. Also, the tires are gonna need to be replaced. What is a good sized tire to use. I dont care about putting on a lift kit, I want to run the largest tire without sacrificing good mileage. Also, any advice on fuel additives? Are they neccessary? Any help you provide is most appreciated.... jmbjs PS-I currently own a GMC 4x4 Suburban, Chevy Vega (SBC), Corvette, and a Pontiac Vibe...This Ford truck is Awesome! |

Howdy and welcome to the .org!! Glad to have ya here.. as for your questions - anything over stock will eat into your mileage ![]() also - a lot of people run all sorts of additives - but it seams Diesel Kleen (can get at walmart) is the most widely used and seems to do a good job... actually just started to try it out at my most recent fillup -- ran about 400 miles so far and all I can really tell is a very small increase in mileage (a huge increase at slower speeds) and a slightly quieter engine... but might all be in my head

Welcome to the Site! I agree about "any tires bigger than stock will decrease your mpg. I run diesel clean (gray bottle). I started using it when ULSD showed up everywhere I re-fuel. My engine is a little quieter than without it. I may have picked up a tiny bit of fuel mpg. Anyway, it is good for lubrication to protect the injectors. |

to the ORG!! I agree with the others, I also use Diesel Kleen in both my 97 and 04. Seems to work pretty good so far. My 04 came with 265/75-16's. Mileage will be affected going to larger tires.
