A NE Ohio hello!

Hi to everyone. I'm not a diesel owner yet, but I am looking very hard at a 7.3L '03 Excursion. I always research the heck out of anything I buy or do, so I have been frequenting some of these sites gathering info. It's very overwhelming, to say the least, but I'm gaining confidence about the possible purchase. I currently have a '95 E-150 conversion van, and before that I had a F-150 ex cab. I really miss having a truck, but with 4 kids, I gotta think SUV! From what I've gathered so far the 7.3 is a better choice than the 6.0? Any other suggestions would be greatly welcomed! Thanks

Welcome to the Site!
The 7.3 engines are tried & proven. You can get a lot of miles from one of them. On the other hand, the 6.0 engine / Torqshift auto transmission combo is awesome (I really love mine). Amazing power straight from the factory. And the Torqshift transmission, according to some, surpasses the Allison auto. The 7.3 has to be modified to come close to the factory power of the 6.0. The early 6.0's (03-04) had some bugs, but the later ones are much improved.

Welcome!
If you can find a diesel Excursion (any year) for a good price, I'd jump on it. They seem to be a rare vehicle now. No one wants to give them up!
