Just bought the 08

hello, new to the site and to diesel. bought an 08 250 6.4 PS. what are your thoughts on this engine. I did drive both the 7.3 and 6.0, this engine, at least i felt, performed at least equivelent. the only issus i have after 1200miles is that the fuel economy does not seem to be all that great 12-13mpg. anythoughts on whether this will increase at least to 16. i know people with the 6.0 getting much better mileage

We Are still awaiting delivery of ours. May be here around first of July.

Congrats on the new truck, give her some time to break in and your fuel economy will go up.

Congrads, I just pick up our 08 F-250 4X4 SD 6.4 Lariat Sunday afternoon. Hope Ford has most of the bugs worked out.

The more miles you put on her, the more it should go up. Just give it some time and you will be happier I am sure. And the 6.4s so far are supposed to be real strong. Get some pics up when you can.

Welcome to Powerstroke.org

The way I understand it.. the computers in these trucks (even as far back as the 7.3) need some time to learn you driving habits, and style. Once they have, they will optimize shift points, fuel curves, etc to give you the best mileage possible for the way you drive. Give it a little time.. it should improve.
