New and in need of advice
Hi all!
Googled all kinds of words in order to try and find info and late at night Powerstroke came to mind and here I am! I was looking to buy a F250, crew cab, diesel, 4x4, short or long bed. I was trying to stay within a budget and info from Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds, and some other used vehicle buying resources. I found a 99 with the description above but it has almost 240,000 miles on it. The truck looks nice and apparently has no problems. I pulled a carfax on it on it was clean. Since I don't know much (anything) about these vehicles, I was wondering if anyone could educate me on what to look for and if 240k is just crazy. I've seen many people talking about their high mileage trucks and I heard the 7.3 PSD just get broken-in at that mileage range. Any thoughts would be appreciated and hello again to all!!! Some basic info: F250 99 or 00 7.3 PSD Lariat/short bed 240,000 miles 4x4 Everything looks clean in vehicle and out. Last edited by tonkatoy : 09-22-2005 at 09:06 PM. |

I guess it depends on how much they are selling it for. My dad bought his 2000 PSD, 4WD, Dually, Crew Cab, Long Bed 50K in 2003 for around $23K. I personally would want to buy a truck that had less miles, just because I would plan on driving it a LONG time. Honestly, 230K probably still has some great life left in it. My dad sold his 95 Powerstroke with 300K miles in 2003. The engine was still running fantastic, but the rest of the truck was falling apart. If the whole truck looks like it has been taken cared of, and depending on the price, it might be a good deal! Hope that helped |

Howdy Lem,
I guess I should have mentioned that, price that is. They want $14,000. for it. I think I could get it down to mid $12k to $13k. Currently, I live in VA and the truck is located in TN, so I have only seen pictures, but the photos that I have seen have certainly made me more interested. Although, I will not be able to buy a third party warranty due to the mileage. Aside from the mileage, and just going by looks, it looks like it could be a 2001, `02, even `03. It does have some small scratches and dings but that's about it. I can not say for sure, but it may have been used to pull a fifth wheel, gooseneck, or trailer of some sort. But there is no history of that. Cheers, Kevin Last edited by tonkatoy : 09-22-2005 at 10:59 PM. |
