hey guys,

great forum! lots to learn, I am a newb to the diesel world. I would like your help on what excursion to purchase. I have been doing some research on what models are different form others. I know I want the diesel for option of towing. However form there I am lost. What should I look for? I am looking to use it as a safe family vehicle. I have read its a wise choice to add a chip and change out to slotted rotors. Any other mods you can suggest I would greatly appreciate it.

hey welcome to the site!

The Ex is pretty cool, I have a 2k 7.3 with a ton of miles, runs like a champ. A chip such as TS Performance or DP Tuning is a good idea for easy power. But your first mod step should be gauges, you'll need to see whats going on the vehicle as you start bumping up the power. An intake and full exhaust are going to be manditory as well, without those in the mix, your truck won't breathe very well and higher HP tunes will send your EGT's through the roof

There are a ton of free and nearly free mods you can do as well. When you get ready hit up the site vendors here, they have everything you'll need to get the new ride blowin' smoke.

As far as what to look for, nothing to much different from any other used vehicle, at least not that I'm aware of, I'm sure some of the other members can offer some more insight for you.
