Soon to be owner of a PSD
I'm shopping right now for a PSD truck
Narrowed it down to the 94-98 F-250 Ext. cab 8ft bed 4x4 trucks I'm a big off roader and I've just got tired of slowly towing my 7000lb trailer with my bouncy, frame flexing, old small block powered 79' K20 i've had for years Plus I'm trying to combine my daily driven 3" lifted Jeep Grand cherokee's average 16 mpg and my tow rigs trailer towing capacity into a single vehicle that can do both of those jobs as well if not better Been in general (not brand specific at first) looking for powerfull & reliable 3/4 to 1 ton, extended to crew cab, 8ft bed, turbo diesels with at least A/C & Cruise control in decent shape under $10,000 (would prefer a stick shift transmission too, but I'm somewhat flexible on that one and i figure i could always swap a stick in later) and after quite a bit of looking and researching i've come to the conclusion that: -Dodges are overpriced & underpowered in stock form (won't be able to afford much upgrades at first) -GMs are underpowered, unreliable, and have a crappy car based IFS front suspension -Fords 94-98 F-250 ext. cab powerstrokes are powerfull, reliable, priced right, and all around built pretty tough (and this is hard for a lifetime solid axle GM guy to admit )so i figure the F-250 PSD should be the perfect truck for my new (to me anyway) 70 mile a day daily driver/60-400 mile a weekend tow rig Hoping to learn alot from the rest of those on here Last edited by gonecheenin : 04-01-2006 at 02:47 PM. |

I'm not, thats actually what i was looking for in the first place I just can't find any priced right, plus i don't think they made any Ext. F-350's in those years (least not that i know of anyway) and since i'll be driving empty more then towing i'm figuring the 250 will be a better choice all around Thanks for the welcomes, i'm just hoping this side isn't too dark on my wallet

I am sincere, i just meant problems wise ![]() after all, my other trucks were all older V-8 chevys, so an engine repair was just $200 and a junkyard away ![]() Long as i don't get unlucky enough to end up with a problem truck i think i'm gonna be a very pleased new Ferd owner Found the truck I'm buying, picking it up tomorrow (the front bumper mounts have been fixed since the pictures were taken) It's a 97, F-250 Powerstroke diesel, 5 speed, 4x4, ext. cab, 8 foot bed, 86,580 miles Green with tan interior Also has a trailer hitch, trailer brakes, dual fuel tanks, and A/C $11,300 out the door minus taxes (gotta pay those in PA) Then its off directly to Double S diesel for pillar gauges, 4" exhaust, high flow air intake, and a 125 horse 4 position chip Only thing that sucks is it does not have cruise, but it can't be that hard to add since the truck is already drive-by-wire, so hopefully with enough research I'll figure out whats needed for the cruise option to be installed Oh, and those running boards are SO unbelievably GONE  ![]() ![]()

Look to spend no less than $5000 for any dodge truck with the cummins as the engine its self is sought after DM Last edited by DieselMinded : 04-04-2006 at 04:34 PM. |
