Word on the street. Current `95 7.3L owner.

Aloha: out here in the isles of ALOHA, Ford was/has been for the last decade, yearly either #1 or close..... but....!!
I`ve spoken to numerous CURRENT, like me, Powerstroke owners and have heard regret from many buying any truck with the new 6.0L. I`ve even heard the dreaded but deadly serious LEMON word used.
I do NOT count among these sources of info/opinion, Dodge or GM Duramax dealers/sales people/representatives of ANY of the 3 big US guys in the game, as they`re to clearly biased & openly self serving , as would a Ford guy be on the opposite end of the issue. So this is a general asking of upgrade 7.3L owners who`ve gone back to Ford with the new 6.0L.
Any of you ( US!!) hearing the same? Any EVIDENCE AND/OR worse, REGRETS?
I must close this issue with what I feel compelling & honest advice from a source who has the street credibility.
A well known, been around long enough to know, 3rd party, Big 3 US after market seller of well respected add-on engine, tranny, exhaust brake manufacturer...one I`d use and certainly listen to, has added his ideas and agrees that the 6.0L TDI which they support with products is one to AVOID as not merely a 1-2-3 issues fix, it is in fact a fundementally flawed from ground up design and mechanical mess. I asked this tech guy if he would buy 1 knowing that he could get all sorts of free fixesadded on by great techs and mechanics to work 1 over. NOPE!!
1st engine choice is with no hesitation the CUMMINS but he loathes the DODGE package which makes up the majority of a truck, so only the GM Duramax would ever be in this consultants garage. When people in the BIZ with no reason to lie or denigrate the other guys producing trucks, comes out so adamantly agaisnt the Ford it sure as hell means to me that before any $$$$ leaves my pocket I`m slowing my replacement choice until the FORUM has it`s chance to weigh in and spew forth it`s collective hard won real-World experiences regarding and shining ther lights on this dark & at best "CONTROVERSIAL" engine package.
Thanx.
PS: I`d REALLY like to stick with FORD in case that does NOT come thru loud and clear. But...will not let brand loyalty and history lead me to buy something with known build quality issues. :confused beach bum wondering what to look @ once back from the beach.

I have an 04 F-250, CC, SB, Lariat, 4x4, FX4, 6.0 PSD; that I absolutely LOVE!! I have had 2 problems with it, both were taken care of by Ford. Would I buy it again? YES, absolutely!! Would I recommend it? A resounding YES!!!
I LOVE my truck. I have had it since March 05, 04, and I am STILL smiling!!!!
Get yourself a PSD, you will be deleriously happy!!

Might be too little too late here, but a good friend of mine has an 04 F350 4x4 quad cab with the 6.0 and the 5 speed auto, hasnt had probem one with it. Its a strong runner and good on fuel. It got the edge juice and attitude monitor, a K&N, and exhaust. I have heard some issues about the first of the motors but I imagine that theyre about all resolved by now. Hell, if I could afford it I'd go trade my 96 for a new 6.0 6 speed.

off topic

I don't know about ford but I know that the durasmack only puts out 520 ft lbs of torque with the manual tranny option. Isn't this kinda backwards? I thought that because you let off the power when you shift a manual that it could take more power. Right? Then again it is CHEBBY
