Hola from SATX

Hi all. I'm an Army dude in Texas, getting ready to head to Tennessee/Kentucky. I tow an 18' utility trailer that weighs about 3K empty, and a boat that weighs around 5500 on the trailer. Other than that... I just love having bulldozer type power in a pickup.

This is my first diesel, and its been many years since I've driven a Ford, and even longer since it was a Ford truck. I have a new (paper tags still on it) `09 F-250XL, and love it... except for the mileage. Two tanks of gas in the city, and only about 10mpg average.

I've ordered a S&B cold air intake (with my name on it...how cool is that?), and am considering what other mods to add... wavering between the SCT and Edge programmer, and leaning strongly towards a DPF-delete variant. The price is the major determinant between the two, considering my wife is still freaking about the pricetag on the truck... so am looking to learn where the best bang for my buck exists.

Also plan on doing something with the exhaust... but am not sure which way to jump... 4" or 5" filter-back (I read on here that some folks use a DPF-delete, and just throw the filter back on for dealer visits), just change the muffler, or what.

Any other mods... well, I'm sure they'll happen... I just have no idea what they look like at this point.
