Illinois license plate ???
Ok, so today for the first time I got pulled for tints.. Then he says where is your inspection sticker, I played dumb saying I didn't know I needed one. He asked how heavy the truck was, I said no more than 8,000... So I am looking up on the Illinois DMV website the different plate types, now why is it that it says NOTHING about a safety sticker on the DMV site?
Flat Weight Trucks (over 8000 pounds) Yet, you are expected to get one every 6 months? Can I get away with a B plate? It's a long bed, CC, dually, 4x4... I am sure it's over 8,000.. But I am not paying some BS fee every 6 months to have them tell me my truck is in great shape. Thing that pissed me off the most was the dickhead cop totally ignored the two mexican scrap trucks that drove past me with NO license plates at all. |

That sucks il DMV tried to tell a friend that they where going to fine him for running b plates on his 2500 but nothing came of it. There are some 350s at work and they don't have inspection stickers so I don't know

where are you located in IL?
Also, what is your plate type? truck B or D D requires the saftey inspection/sticker every 6 months most F-250s can run a B plate, I have a F-350 and run a D plate |

I'm in the Schaumburg area, that's where I got the warning. I have the dually in my signature and run D-plates currently.
I just don't get how they just expect everyone to know. When I got my plates no one told me I needed a safety inspection, I never got any paper work saying I needed it. I had only heard of people needing it. |

Yeah, I got a ticket a few years ago.
I actually had the sticker, but it had expired. I went and got the new one, took receipt to court and it was thrown out. Go to Suburban Driveline in Villa Park,IL and they have a IL Safety truck test lane, costs like $30 I agree that the dealership shoud be responsible to tell a new truck customer that IL law requires a safety sticker on a D plated truck or bigger-They don't I knew about it because my father owned a furniutre business and I always took truck in for the inspection. |

Part of the problem is there are to many people at the currency exchanges selling the wrong plates. My boss currently has b plates on his 350. The other thing they don't tell you is that if you are towing a trailer you need the safety sticker as well. Ask the guys at Suberban they will tell you what a joke the whole thing is. The rules change all the time.
