Elgin SUCKS!!!

And I should know.

No inspections for A(car) and B(10-12,000 max), but D and above need windshield sticker. If the truck is nice you get a one year sticker, if it's not so nice it gets a 6 month. I have never seen a private vehicle hit for not having a sticker though.

I believe the safety stickers are for commercial vehicles over 8,000# (C plated or higher) and commercial trailers. B plates are for <8,000#.

My truck is my personal truck, it is D plated(F-350) and I have to get the Safety inspection every 6 months($32)
I opted for this because when I purchased vehicle in may 05, I was given the sales tax exemption if plated with a D truck plate($152)yearly always renews June 30 of every year.
personal or business, goes by weight class

Our truck is also D plated, but we never got a notice or anything saying we had to get the sticker. Are we expected to get it on our own?

I have heard that dealerships don't just offer that info to truck customers, they will if you ask. When I bought the truck I was given D plates(temps) till formal plates arrived. Took truck to inspection within first month of owning truck. Suburban Driveline in Villa Park,il
Per their yellow book listing)
If you are looking for truck safety inspections, we provide Illinois State Certified safety & diesel emissions. Most tests can be done in 15 minutes. No appointment is necessary for the safety inspections, but an appointment is required for the diesel emissions test.)

I let my dad use my truck today and he gets a $75 ticket for no safety sticker. Three years I have had the truck and never a problem. He took it and got the sticker today. $30 bucks latter and it's good for 6 months. So I have to go to court in Aug to get the ticket dismissed. I guess he was behind my dad and he said he saw it had no sticker. How that is possible I don't know. I bet they saw a "big truck" on a residential side street with tinted windows and took a chance.

where did he go for the inspection?
Do visit the Lombard/Suburban driveline
Don't bother visiting the Kammes truck center on Army Trail in Bloomingdale
