Question?
We have a guy who is from OK and wants to be a member of the Oklahoma chapter. heres the kicker...he lives in Cali because hes in the Military...and he doesn't expect to be returning to OK anytime soon. Now i figure we could allow him to be a member but what really is the point. He would never be able to attend events unless he happened to be in town visiting durring the time frame of an event. He would be like a ghost member ![]() So is there any reason he could not be a member based on this? |

That would be up to you OKie's there Clay. As long as his lack of participation doesn't hurt the group as a whole, then it shouldn't be a problem. If he is a premium member he is helping you regardless of his probable attendance record. You can always draft your bylaws to have a provision for droping members who don't attend a certain number of events per year. The MAP chapter bylaws have a provision for this. That way you have an out if you can't keep your attendance percentages up high enough.

I was more lookinjg for approval or disapproval from the mods who originally set up the guidelines to make sure there wasn't something that says a member has to reside in the geographic area of his chapter or some loophole like that. His lack of participation would in fact be an issue to me, if we need 25% attendace and we know he is automatically contributing to the non attendance percentage every time, well, you get my point. Mods?? |

Clay... I see no reason why a geographical restriction would stop him from being a member of the OK Chapter. That would have to be up to the Chapter itself. I do agree with Tiff however, perhaps everyone would be better served if he was a member of the Chapter in the area in which he is residing. I see no reason why Chapter memberships could not be "transferred" when a person relocates. |

Since the point is to have a more local "community" of powerstrokers, and to get together at meet and greets and events to get to know each other better, like Banshee34 said, may want to ask him why he would want to bea member of the OK chapter?? Especially since he doesn't plan on returning anytime soon. doesn't make sense to me
I was born and raised in MA. for 27 yrs., but now I live in VA. I would not want to join the MA. chapter, I'd never see them. I;m sure those guys feel the same about me.I'm obviously not a mod.....Just giving my ![]() later |
