Hello in Idaho

Thanks! I really love my bad boy. The only downfall is having a 10" drophitch to pull my horse trailer lol. I've had what I believe to be a boost issue since I chipped it and hope to address the form with it soon. (ps mine doesn't have a good ride lol)

You have a nice looking truck. My truck is a 2000 F350 Dually. Really like the ride of the dually!

Hope to see you around! -- on the site, that is. I live way up in Coeur d'Alene!

Hello in Idaho

I was running a inline Diablo, took that out and went with a hypertech programmer (thinking it was the chip causing the problem). What happens is.... If I'm pulling, in a real strong wind (not pulling anything) or getting on it pretty hard (pushing 3000rpms) when it's programmed up my check engine light comes on. If I don't back off it and cont. to drive it with the CEL on then I loose a bit of power and if it was a gas engine I would say it almost sounds like it pinging. Drop it below 1800rpms and drive it for a few minutes the check engine light goes off and all is well. I have a buddy with a 99 f350 and he said he thought I was getting too much boost (said he believes what I hearing is the turbo fluttering/stalling) so I bought a ATS ported compressor housing, wicked wheel and a boost relief valve. It's much better but... If towing programmed up my check engine light will still on occasion come on but I don't hear the pinging like noise anymore. I've never gotten a DTC if I check it either. Any thoughts?? Thanks Traci

Traci,

I'm not a mechanic but I deal in parts. It sounds like your buddy could be right. Are you running a boost gauge and pyrometer? You can tell a lot about what's going on with these two.

Hope this is helpful. Might find a little more in some of the tech forums on this site.

Dean

TruckRacingParts, good to hear you got it home, sorry to hear it turned into more of a project than you planned. Was it attention to detail work, or "OH" look what I found stuff?

Also, welcome Traci, good folks here with lots of info to share!

They did a frame off restore but when they rebuilt the motor and trans, there was no repaint. Replaced parts with original when they needed to be upgraded. Leaf springs were painted over minor rust. The warp was not removed from the hood before painting and replacing, etc. All minor things and the truck is nice even if left as is. -- Also, he dented the fender the morning I picked it up. I pulled most of the dent with my hands and a little hammer work will fix the rest. But he knocked off $1500 for this.

All-in-all, it is a dandy little truck! Has plenty of power (140 hp) but maxes out at 60 MPH.
