Remember when...

Remember when...

A computer was something on TV,
from a science fiction show of note.
Windows were something you hated to clean,
And ram was the cousin of a goat.

Meg was the name of a girlfriend,
and gig was a job for the night.
Now they all mean different things,
and that really mega bytes.

An application was for employment,
A program was a TV show,
A cursor used profanity,
A keyboard was a piano.

Memory was something that you lost with age,
a cd was a bank account.
And if you had a 3 1/2" floppy,
you hoped nobody found out.

Compress was something you did to the garbage,
not something you did to a file.
And if you unzipped anything in public,
you'd be in jail for a while.

Log on was adding wood to the fire,
hard drive was a long trip on the road.
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived,
and a backup happened to your commode.

Cut you did with a pocket knife,
paste you did with glue.
A web was a spider's home,
and a virus was the flu.

I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper,
and the memory in my head.
I hear nobody's been killed in a computer crash,
but when it happens they wish they were dead!!

Found this on an email from a while back...made me laugh

Regular gas had lead in it, unleaded and supreme were special. I also miss the days of good old No. 2 diesel

You're older than me... I remember tablet as a bunch of papers bound together.
Did you have to chisel it to take notes?
Were you around before the dinos became oil?

Kids these days think they have it good being able to text. We had texting when I was kid. You took out a piece of paper, wrote, "Do you like me, Yes or No" folded it up and passed it across the classroom to the girl of interest.

Remote control TVs? My Dad had a voice-activated remote control TV at our house. "Darryl, go change the channel to 13!!!" "Darryl, turn the knob on the antenna rotor to get better reception." "Darryl, can you turn up the volume? I can't hear it."

Directories where those things in the mall to tell you where the store you're looking for was located.

Thumb-drive was when you were showing off for your girl by driving with only your thumb.
