Throttle response

I have to say that since installing the latest hot damn upgrade the EGTs and smoke situation is greatly improved.
I have one little issue though that seems to have shown up since the upgrade.
When I press on the accel pedal there is a dead spot until about 7-8% pedal then it surges forward. It also makes a puff of black smoke. This issue is intermittent and sometimes hardly noticeable. It seems to do it to some degree on every power setting too.
Any thoughts?

Well it seems the "dead spot" was a result of the TC locking in 4th at 40mph which is right in the zone where I am for most townie driving.
I switched to the S2L trans schedule and it drives much nicer now.
