Florence Dunes Trip summer of '14

Hey guys so Roy and I have been chatting about going to the dunes this summer.

Going to Florence sounds good to me unless there is something decent farther up north cuz Florence is quite a drive, but if not that's fine!

I'm thinking July 31- Aug 3.

Can we get some websites of the camping reservation spots Roy?

Couple other options I'll throw out. Moses lake. But you can ride that in a day.
Christmas tree valley sand dunes in Oregon. Haven't been there and don't know much about that place.

Florence is furthest spot north without going to crappy sand lake, but Winchester Bay and Coos Bay aren't that much further of drives either..

I don't imagine any of you are members of a odd fellows lodge are you?

If we did Christmas tree valley we would have to take Denis in consideration. This was on there website.

If you go:
The Christmas Valley, Oregon Sand Dunes are open year-round, and are located on the Christmas Valley National Back Country Byway. According to the BLM, roads in the area of the sand dunes are not routinely maintained, therefore high ground clearance and 4-wheel drive are strongly recommended.

Christmas Valley too dusty and hot during summer end of May is about as late as you want to ride that before middle of September and they aren't typical sand dunes, more like gritty bits.

There is no campground with dune access in Florence with hookups besides the Oddfellows campground and you have to be a member or a member can get 1 other party in with them.

Winchester Bay and Coos Bay have many more options for camping!
